Living Out my Speech in Action- The Story Behind the News Segment!

Oh my oh my oh my!

Those were the only two words I could utter as I watched myself on the local news channel.

The day before, I spoke at a Christian Chamber of Commerce luncheon about chasing their dreams and overcoming their fears. It was a whirlwind!

 I have spoken to many groups but speaking to a chamber group was new for me. I was nervous!

I had to give myself a pep talk.

You’ve got a story to tell, Paige. Don’t be a chicken!

Just as I got my mind in the right place, another curve ball was thrown my way.

“Paige, there’s a possibility the local news will be here capturing your story.” My interpreter relayed this message from the chamber’s president.

Okay, it’s just a possibility. Play it cool, Paige.

Since I have a low field of vision, my interpreter kept me informed about what is happening around me. She told me that Bobby Lewis, the cameraman, arrived and started setting up his equipment.

Oh no! I didn’t believe it would actually happen!

I had to put my mind on my message and pretend like nothing else was there. No audience. No cameraman. Only me and my mission. I reminded myself of my goals and that is to tell others my story and spread awareness!

I wanted nothing more but to have the courage to step on that stage as my most authentic self.

As I spoke about overcoming your fear, I was living my speech in action!

It is thrilling to know that people believe in The Paige Project and the vision. The news segment blew my mind.

Now, I can look back to this recent event and see growth in myself. I will continue to push myself into what I like to call my “uncomfort” zone and become more confident in who I am and what I am doing.
