Practice Does Wonders

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

1 Corinthians 10:31 (ESV)

Recently I gave a speech to a local MOPS group (Mothers of Preschoolers) and shared my testimony.

My speaking journey has been a roller coaster ride. At the beginning of my speaking career, I was nervous, not knowing how people would react. This time, however, it was different. I felt total confidence and didn’t break a sweat. I felt completely comfortable being in front of everyone and grinned ear to ear for the opportunity.

This experience took me back to my very first speech. It was September 2016 in my college Public Speaking course when the professor called me up to speak. I felt as if I was going to faint.

My eyes started to shake from being so nervous. I struggled to breathe as I started. Thankfully, I got through it and this was the start of something great.

After that first speech, despite how nervous I was, I began to understand that speaking was part of my calling.

I want to be able to encourage an audience to be brave and live boldly no matter what challenges get in their way. Also, my mission to raise awareness about my disorder, Riboflavin Transporter Deficiency Type 2.

Since then I have practiced my speeches but my most recent speech takes the cake. My secretary brought a box of books to sell, not knowing how many people would be interested. After my speech, many women lined up and we ran out in only a few minutes. It has been a long road to try and get my books into people’s hands and this was the first time we ran out. I was ecstatic! All of these ladies made me feel appreciated. I am so thankful they asked me to speak at their meeting.

This speech has invigorated me to continue improving my craft of speaking to others and sharing my story.  I feel sharpened, goal oriented, and excited for what is to come. This shows me that by staying dedicated to a dream and working hard you CAN produce great results.

Paige is always looking for more ways to connect with the local community. If you know of a church, school, or any event in Tampa surrounding areas that would like Paige to come speak, please email us at: paigeproject.tbf@gmail.com.
