Not your Typical Valentine’s Day Blog: Book Review

Let me ask you a question… has a book ever made an enormous difference in your life? Well, I have!

Last year I was given a book by a dear friend called Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. It was during the months of December 2017 and January 2018 that I read this book that truly impacted my life. It’s a romantic book which isn’t typically my style but somehow, I fell into the story from the first page.

Rivers book is a fiction story based on the book of Hosea in the bible. The main character was sold into prostitution at a young age and lives a wretched life. She was persuaded to believe that she was worthless and unable to be truly loved by anyone. Her life was just the way it was and that couldn’t be changed.

I promise I wont totally spoil the book for you but in the end, she transforms into a person that she could have never imagined. God had a plan for her all along.

Because of the defilement of my disorder, I felt like I could relate to her. My heart was crushed under the weight of my disgust with myself. During the time when I was reading this book, not only was my heart broken but I was physically sick as well. The flu got to me. Between my weak immune system and my broken heart, I felt sicker than ever before

Gradually as I read the book and my heart began to heal, my physical health quickly followed. In a few short weeks I had completely recovered and my health progressed to its best state since I can remember.

In the midst of all of my trials, the Lord used the book Redeeming Love to change my heart towards myself and my outlook on life.
